Democracy Or Anarchy?

The Web3 community loves to pat itself on the back for its decentralized governance. DAOs, or decentralized autonomous organizations, are often described as the future of community—where digital communities democratize their decision-making and assets. What do we do when those decisions become influenced, gamed or completely run by AI agents? Now you can deploy these agents easily with Auto.fun. Too easy.

Now imagine that same DAO where a small group of users activates hundreds of AI agents. Each agent is designed to vote very differently, impacting decisions in profound ways. Could this lead to gatekeeping? Could it lead to censorship? What would occur if Eliza Labs determined that some form of agent is “harmful” or “undesirable”? Who decides what's harmful?

The promise of Web3 is decentralization. It’s not about the technology, it’s about removing the gatekeepers and empowering pioneers. But platforms such as auto.fun risk reproducing the very centralized power structures that we seek to avoid.

Stanford University collaboration adds an impressive feather to the cap, and ElizaOS integration indicates strong infrastructure. Research and frameworks can't solve the fundamental problem: unchecked power, no matter how well-intentioned, is dangerous.

Unexpected Connection: Think of it like the early days of social media. We were all so eager to connect, to open up our lives and homes to the globe.
